Mac performance must be evaluated against the exact Mac model, chip, memory, macOS version, display and game build. Do not translate PC GPU tiers or driver advice directly into a Mac recommendation.

Pearl Abyss officially lists MetalFX Upscaler and Frame Generation support on Mac. PC-only AMD, NVIDIA and Intel driver packages do not apply.

Record:

  • Mac model and year;
  • Apple chip and unified memory;
  • macOS version;
  • launcher or store;
  • current verified patch;
  • internal or external display;
  • resolution, refresh rate and HDR;
  • graphics preset;
  • MetalFX mode;
  • frame-generation state;
  • exact test route and duration.

Confirm the Mac meets the current official requirements.

  1. Start from a stable preset.
  2. Test on the intended display resolution.
  3. Establish performance with frame generation disabled.
  4. Select one MetalFX mode.
  5. lower the costliest settings one step;
  6. repeat the same route;
  7. enable frame generation only after base frame pacing is stable;
  8. test an external display, HDR or high refresh rate separately;
  9. save, quit and relaunch before accepting the final profile.
  • confirm which display is primary;
  • record scaling and refresh rate;
  • test the internal display once;
  • disable HDR temporarily;
  • avoid changing the cable, dock, resolution and game preset together;
  • check whether the issue exists in screenshots as well as on the physical display;
  • reconnect the external display only after the game is closed.

Long sessions can behave differently from short tests.

  • repeat the route after the system reaches normal operating temperature;
  • close memory-heavy applications;
  • record when stutter or slowdown begins;
  • compare the same scene after a clean restart;
  • do not infer a thermal cause without temperature or repeatability evidence.
  1. Preserve saves.
  2. Restart the game.
  3. Restart macOS.
  4. confirm game and system updates;
  5. remove overlays or capture tools one at a time;
  6. test the same action;
  7. check Current Known Issues;
  8. report the Mac model, macOS, patch, display, settings and steps.

Do not delete save data as a troubleshooting shortcut.

Create a new manual slot and allow the platform cloud operation to finish before moving the save through Cross-Save. Verify timestamps and progress on the destination before continuing.
